About Kristy Peterman

This Is My Story And I'm Sticking To It

Hi, I'm Kristy Peterman

Nobody grows up thinking, “I really want to be a Medicare Agent when I get older!” and neither did I. At different points, I’ve considered being a Social Worker, Nurse, and a Counselor, but my true passion has always been in being a mother. Thankfully, I’ve been able to accomplish that dream and ironically, it’s what led me to Medicare.

Born in 1976, I grew up in Orem, Utah, the youngest of four kids. After graduating from high school, I planned to be a Nanny in New York, but was offered a position in Client Service at Western Wats Center in Provo, UT (A telephone research center). I stayed and worked full-time.

In 1998, At 21 yrs old, I served a mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints for 18 months in the Canary Islands. Upon returning, I went to say hello to all my old friends and was offered a job by the owner of Western Wats to be his Personal Assistant. Despite his former Assistant having left crying, I accepted the challenge and have worked for him in varying degrees now for over 28 years.

While working, I also went to school and Graduated from Brigham Young University. In early 2005 I convinced my boss to accept a teaching position in the Entrepreneurial Department at BYU. I would be the TA and take care of grading papers and attendance. All he had to do was show up and lecture. I was 28 yrs old, so my real motive was to meet someone, and it worked! Chris was in the first semester class. He asked me out on the last day of class, April 15th and we were married on July 9th!
When you know and you’re ready, why delay the wonderful?

We’ve now been married for 20 years and reside in Spanish Fork, UT with our six kids and adorable Cocker Spaniel Labradoodle dog, Rusty. Over the years, I’ve been blessed to stay home to raise my kids. When our youngest started 1st Grade, I excitedly got a job at a Podiatrists office in Spanish Fork. I quickly learned that I hated not being home when my kids got home from school, and needed to find something that was fulfilling, allowed me to work from home, and have more control over my schedule. At that point, I was introduced to Medicare by a neighbor. I instantly knew that was my answer and quickly jumped into taking tests to receive the necessary licenses and KEP Insurance was born, with the moto of Keeping Everyone Protected.

I love Medicare! Not because I get to deal with the government and insurance carriers, but because I love helping people. I enjoy walking individuals through the processes of signing up, ensuring they avoid any late penalties, and helping them get the insurance coverage that meets their needs. That is why I launched UtahMedicareHelp.Org in 2025 and became the only agent in Utah County to offer the Medicare Smart Start Program™ and authored the book, “Starting Medicare Smartly.” I do not plan to become a large agency and at one point will be required by stop accepting new clients, simply because I won’t be able to service everyone. If you are reading this, the opportunity is still open for you to take advantage of this amazing program and my services. I hope you jump at the opportunity!
